St. Patrick's Party

Elk Altar Society, Inc. Annual Events

In our local church community of 10 or so full-time parishioners, our Elk Altar Society is busy most of the year with planning and conducting fund raising events. Our main objective is to maintain and upgrade our beautiful church and rectory. We currently schedule a minimum of 2 events per year where the proceeds are earmarked specifically for these and other community projects where we find a need.

Colossal Yard Sale
- In the last 5 years, The Colossal Yard Sale has been one of two of our on-going events of the year. We have solicited, moved, washed and cleaned, price marked and sold more items of all sorts than any local yard sale on the north coast. This sale has become a extremely high profile fund-raiser, a community event and an outreach program to much of the surrounding area. We owe a great deal of our success to the help we receive from donations, volunteer help to implement the event, and public service announcements provided by our local radio stations. THANK ALL YOU SO MUCH!!!

St. Patrick's Party -
One of our favorite events, St. Patrick's Party, has been an annual family-style event for the past 109 years in the Greenwood/Elk Community. Through the efforts of many different factions in the community we celebrate, in gala fashion, one of the oldest world events in history. We start the celebration early in the afternoon with mass at the Blessed Sacrament Church. We have been fortunate in the last 2 years to enjoy a pre-mass treat of from 30-40 volunteer gospel singers from the Sebastopol and Petaluma area. Now that we are in the spirit, lets enjoy a terrific meal of corned beef, cabbage and all of the trimmings which starts later in the day and runs into the evening. We provide entertainment throughout the day by inviting dance groups, singers and musicians to join us. We give away some great door prizes every half hour during the event, and provide other opportunities to win raffle prizes and auctions. If you are interested in making a donation or contacting us regarding this event, just click this link and we will be glad to reply.
